Welcome to The Pond Family Co-Op

The Family Co-op of the Pond neighborhood in Arvada, Colorado, is a group of families that gather regularly to visit, support each other and plan fun family activities.

Our regularly-scheduled activities include a pumpkin patch visit, neighborhood holiday party, adults-only dinner, Easter egg hunt, and more. We also provide meal deliveries for families with new babies or who need extra support due to illness or injury.

The group is a great way to meet your neighbors and develop lasting friendships—for parents and kids. We have members with children of all ages, from newborn all the way through college age.  Members from all walks of life and family situation are welcome.

We are always excited to welcome new members. Come and join us!

Family Co-Op History

The group was formed in the 1970s when the neighborhood was in its infancy.  Then dubbed the "Babysitting Co-Op," it was made up of moms who traded babysitting duties and met together to listen to talks from parenting experts.  Over the years, the Co-Op has changed in shape and concept, but it has remained a driving force in our neighborhood.

Why is it called a Co-op?

When the Co-Op was founded, it was a true babysitting cooperative.  Somewhere along the line, the babysitting component was dropped.  Today we are more of a social/support group, but we kept the name as a nod to the long history of the organization.

How it Works

The Co-Op meets at 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of every odd month from September-May in the Pond Clubhouse. We usually spend the first half-hour visiting and snacking, and then settle in for a meeting to review old business and plan for the next month's event or activity. Typically only the moms attend the regular monthly meetings, though all are welcome!

On the even months, we typically hold an event.  Members volunteer to serve as event chairs, coordinating the invitations and RSVPs, food service, entertainment, etc.

When a member has a baby, or experiences a time of illness or other need, we arrange for two weeks of dinners to be delivered to the family.

Dues

To become an official member of the Family Co-Op, you must pay dues of $24.00 annualy (plus a small service fee). Yearly dues will be collected at the September business meeting or as arranged with the president.  Membership fees are used to offset the cost of events.

The Family Co-Op and the Pond HOA

While the Family Co-Op is made up of families from The Pond and is very supportive of the work of The Pond HOA, it is an independent organization.  The Family Co-op is not affiliated with the Pond HOA or the Board of Directors.
